Hi, we live in Bham, AL and the last week or so it has been advertised on the radio about auditions for TV, movies, modeling. So we took our son and received a call back. The company is called “talent”, and it is not an agency. They say that out of 1325 kids that they only chose 5 and our son was one of the five. If he is chosen in the call back today we start paying them to find him work. Is this legit?????
Nope, it’s a ripoff. Real talent agents don’t advertise on the radio.
Lisa,
Based on what you’ve read and seen on my blog, what do you think? They always make it seem like your child “is the one” – it’s how they sell their program. You do not pay an agent to “find you work”. Legit agents get paid after you book a job, not before. Hope that helps.
Larry, have you heard of the so-called casting agency of Bride & Groom wedding publications who also operate under “Cast your model” (.com) in LosAngeles? They tried to suckered me for $95 to join them, and then another to post a picture w “the promise of work” in their Bridal magazine
I didn’t go for it and enjoyed the look of dissatisfaction on the woman’s face when after l filled out the application she was not able to present me with a receipt for the funds. But l wonder where the get their models in the publication that this woman climes to have been the coordinator for. Have you heard anything about them?
Demetrius,
No, I haven’t heard about them but it sure sounds like a scam to me. Glad you avoided it.
Larry

Unfortunately, I do not know about every agency. To check on the one you mentioned, go to sagaftra.org to see if they are a franchised agency. Hope that helps.
Hi Larry,
Do you have any information on Global One Ltd. in LA? They reached out to us after my daughter did a strange Skype audition for Disney Dreamer Girl. I say strange because it was a one way Skype, we could not see the woman auditioning her. They have all the scam trademarks…$10 monthly website fee…using their photographer…acting classes/seminars…and pressure to make a quick decision or risk being cut. I reached out to a current client parent who is very happy and I do notice 273 mostly 5+ ratings on FB, so I am puzzled.
Anxious to hear what you think.
Since I don’t know about every agency or management company, my best suggestion is to listen to your gut instinct. Anytime anyone pressures me into making a decision that requires money, my answer is no. Agencies should not require the use of their specific photographer or classes. Recommendations are okay, but ultimately you should be able to choose the people you hire for these services.
Try contacting an agency from the sagaftra.org website and ask what the steps are to get started in your area.
This is a scam. I want to warn anyone about Global One Ltd. I am a former employee and saw the inner workings of this “Talent Agency”, they are simply interested in selling their World Wide Star Search event package for $1250 and their photo packages. Do not sign with this company, they force their Talent to write good reviews about them on Yelp and their Facebook page in order to appear as a reputable talent agency.
The one star comments are true accounts from clients. They have been making their clients that sign with them right a raving review that is why you see so many 5 star reviews. I worked very closely with the company and observed their horrible tactics. I left because the company was preying on many people that were out of state and they spent money that they did not have, in order to pursue their acting ambitions. They were forced to buy headshots and additional images for over $1000 dollars, and made to attend their Star Search Talent Showcase if they wanted to be represented by Global One. Trust me this company is nothing but a rip off.
Please read this deadline article about Global One. They are a scam. I am a former employee and have first hand experience with Sunny Chae the CEO and her many scams.

Global One requires that their clients sign up for a monthly website fee, this site (World Wide Star Search), is a complete scam. The showcase that costs clients $1200 is also a complete sham. She now asks that clients give at least $5.00 for her charity, which is just bizarre. All of her scams provide Global One with monthly residuals.
Please do not have any contact with this company, they are smooth talkers and will tell you what you want to hear. Please do your research. Representation should not cost you any money.
My daughter was scammed by this company, it was just awful! I wish I could warn anyone against this company, it is awful what they have done to so many families and for so many years. They have a showcase that I have now found out from Casting Directors is a complete scam. I also learned that their photographer is the owners nephew who pretended to work for another company called Studio Icon. I could not believe how many lies were told to me, in order to get me to spend my money for my daughter’s representation. Please learn from my mistakes do not trust this company. Sunny Chae the owner will tell you anything you want to hear. I was naive in this case, and my experience with this company was awful. By the way their is a facebook page that is being ran by a former employee and a former mother of a client, the page is called Global One Ltd. is a Scam. Please contact or message them, they will provide you with the truth. Thank you for reading this.
Hi Larry,
I was recently contacted by Talent Inc managed by Rachael Murray and Scott Cooper. They are offering a 10 month boot camp, and a showcase at the end of said boot camp with different agents from LA, Atlanta, Uk, and orlando. The boot camp os over 2k and in the contract it states that they reserve the right to act on your behalf with any agent and negotiate also.
Is this a scam
